Photoshop Tutorial by Cabloo - Techy images

Level of difficulty: Beginner
Time: About 5 minutes

In this simple, but useful, tutorial, I'll teach you how to make this image:

Open up a new document in Photoshop. I don't suggest any lower than 200x200 in size, or any higher than 700x700. My preference is 300x300.
First take the marquee tool and draw some boxes and fill them with the desired color. I chose black. Make sure they are all connected.
Make your image look similar to mine:

Now let's finish the image.
Using the Marquee tool, select all the pixels in the image.
Then go to Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates..

Your image should turn out something like this:

And you're done! Just mess around with this, I'd like to see what people make out of this.

You mean to create tech brushes right?

Well, it can be brushes, logos, or pretty much anything. I know ummm Metroid Prime uses this, if you've ever seen that game, it's a part of like special artifacts in the game or something. It's used in a lot of ways.

Seen it but never really played it.
I'm working on a tech sig now, problem is I can't find any good tutorials to show me how to make some good wires. Old forums I went to was basically all artwork, but summed up to all signatures. If it was still open I'd ask them because the owner was amazing at tech sigs.

Wires? What do you mean by wires? You mean around the whole thing, like a techy box around it?

Nah, tech as in like metal, but having wires on the metal. Also going into holes.

Oh, well 2 things. One, if you could find one, could you show me an example? I'm not sure if I understand it exactly.
2: If I do understand correctly, I think you're going to have to take images of wires and cut them out and paste them and stuff. I don't think that's a part of Photoshop, unless it's a brush. Actually, a brush might be what you're looking for.

Btw for those two, you're gonna need to already have an image to put into the text.

I used to see good wires all the time but I can't find a single example of em' now.

Well none really specifically, they all kinda suck. But they have the concept.

Yeah I see it now, something like that. Actually I'm having a problem, with the pen tool how do you create a line with a custom color. You can stroke it, but it only does default black or like some weird other tool's effect.

Um let's see. I'll try and figure that out once I get my computer back. I'm on my bros computer, my computer is broken. And my bro's is way too slow for Photoshop. But i think you should try looking in the tool panel, and see where it has two boxes with two colors? One is over the other part way. I think it's under the magnifying glass? Change the top left one to the color you want then try it.
